Main Hoon Na is lucky for Zayed

Zayed Khan lives up to his screen name of Lucky if we tell you how he bagged the role of King Khan's younger brother in Main Hoon Na.


Initially, the role was tailored for Hrithik. But after shooting for a day, Kaho Naa Pyar Hai happened and Hrithik became a star. The next option with Sohail Khan didn't work out. In desperation, she had even wanted to cast Farhan Akhtar when someone recommended Zayed. A meeting later, Zayed was on. Now, if this isn't sheer luck, what else is?
Any mention of Main Hoon Na makes our Mirchi guy nostalgic. "Shooting at St Paul's, reminded me of my days at the Kodaikanal International School.
Those dorms, the fathers and the basketball court - it was childhood revisited," he recalled, adding how they had developed a habit of addressing each other by their screen names once the shooting was into the fourth day.
Working with a hard task master like Farah wasn't easy. "She is tough and for the right reasons. She has the ability to see the kind of talent a person has and tap it. She'd say: 'Stop bullshitting me. You can do better than this'. Farah has given me birth in the industry," Zayed was all praises for his director.
If Farah gave Zayed the springboard, Shah Rukh was there to push him to greater heights. "Shah Rukh is always there to fill the gaps. Even if he has given his best take, he will do a retake for his co-stars' sake. His generosity works in the better interest of the film," he said.
In the pipeline are four other films of Zayed. "In Vaada, I play a guy who is obsessive in love. Shabdh will see me playing the love interest of Ash. That apart, there is Hum where I play a RAW agent, and the multistarrer Maidan," he said.
That's quite an impressive line-up for someone who made his debut with Chura Liya Hain Tumne, a film that didn't quite set the cash registers jingling. Now didn't we tell you that this Khan is Lucky in real life too?

I cant imagine if... kalau saja yang jadi Lucky itu Hritik atau adiknya Salman Khan si Sohail. Aish! Mereka berdua terlalu kekar untuk memainkan peran orang tengil seperti Zayed. Dan... sepertinya takdir pun tak mendukung. Ng... seperti apa jadinya kalau Hritik yang badannya otot semua teriak-teriak waktu jatuh dari loteng? Rasanya pun kurang cocok kalau Sohail ternganga waktu ngeliat Sanju cantik. Hah! Peran itu memang cucok untuk Zayed Khan Lha... He is not just Lucky, tapi ya memang Lakhsman Prasad Sharma.
